Alarming

After a week of hosting students and staff from an exchange school in Moscow, the traditional farewell assembly was held in the main hall.

Our Headmaster started off the proceedings saying that it was a pleasure to host them and that he hoped that all concerned had both enjoyed and benefitted from such an exchange.

In responding the Russian teacher in charge thanked all staff and pupils for their genuine warmth and friendliness.

In recognition of the exchange she said she had a gift for the school which was in the plastic bag she held up.     She then went on, in broken English, to tell of the different ways  students woke up for school … “In England you wake up to alarm clock, but in Moscow, (and at this point she pulled out of the bag a large wooden sculpture of a bright red chicken,

we wake up to red cock !”
