I had just finished lunchtime supervision on the astro-turf and had blown my trusty “acme thunderer” to call everyone off. All using the astro-turf had to change from shoes into trainers, so it was a daily occurrence that I would collect leftover bags, shoes and coats at the end. With everyone off I was picking up the daily detritus when a small boy came limping back onto the astro and approached me, looking quite upset and tearful. What’s the matter I asked. He told me, in between gasps and sobs, that he had a new pair of shoes that someone must have taken because the ones he had on looked exactly the same but were not his size. He was very upset. I looked down and said, “don’t you worry. Just bend down, take those shoes off, put them on the other feet, and I think you will be good to go”. Ah bless!
