Down in a flash

To keep up with communication technology our Headmaster decided that a flashing ‘Enter / Occupied’ system outside his door would be installed and operated, thus doing away with the old fashioned knock on the door.

Needing to see him one morning, I pressed the door button but no flashing red light lit up. I pressed again ..no response !

I then resorted to knocking on the door  ….no answer.

Cautiously I opened the door to find him lying on the floor under his desk. Immediately I called to the office staff that the Headmaster had collapsed or worse.

Upon re-entering his office his head emerged from under the desk holding a screwdriver and asked, in a frustrated voice, “Do you know how this foot operated flashing sign works ?”
