Out of the mouth of babes……..

How many teachers have had to make an unscheduled trip to the local hospital on a Saturday morning after inter-school sports fixtures? I had to take a 12 year old prop forward to the A&E department of the local cottage hospital after he had shed blood on behalf of his rugby team mates during the course of a hard fought match. Upon arrival we went to the receptionist to check in. When we got to the question, have you been here before he replied that he had. After a few minutes of checking, and then asking her colleagues she asked again if he was sure that he had been here before. He said he absolutely had, and it was two weeks ago. After a further round of checking and moving around her domain, she came back and said that she was terribly sorry but couldn’t find any of his details anywhere, and could she tell him what he had come in for. His reply was “I came in to see my Granddad”.  All in a day’s work I guess for a busy hospital receptionist.
