Sometimes you just can’t win

I once had two consecutive interviews with parents who had a child in the same class in year 7. The topic they requested for the interview with me was the same for both sets of parents – they had an issue with the homework  that was being set for their child’s class.

I reassured the first set of parents that I would look into the matter and try to establish why insufficient homework was being set. I then met with the second set of parents who, without allowing me a preamble, complained about how too much homework       was regularly being set for their child. I offered them the same reassurance!
