I was patrolling one lunchtime during the first month of our move into our new school building. I stumbled across a loud conversation between a couple of my “likely lads”. Student one shouted “Where are you running off to?” the reply from student two, which did surprise me, was “I’m off to the library”. At that point I thought, well, that’s uplifting, maybe our central location for the library in the new building, and the appealing colour of the furniture, fixtures and fittings are encouraging a more diverse range of students to visit the library at lunchtime. Student one seemed to share my surprise, although in a more direct way: “You, library, lunchtime?!” Student two responded “I know, but I’m freezing!”
