Given that most phone calls to school from the “general public” tend to be complaints, I was delighted to receive a phone call from a member of the public who was praising the behaviour of our students that use the local bus. This man indicated that as he was getting off the bus he tripped and fell. Immediately he had children from our School either side of him, helping him up and checking he was ok. When we spoke he said, quite rightly, that too many children in society are vilified because of the poor behaviour of a very small minority. His call made me smile, but I had to chuckle when he informed me that one of the group, keen to ensure that he was ok, said to him would you like a sweet, it might make you feel better? Priceless!
