You shouldn’t be sitting here

This true and quite delightful story where the innocence of youth overcomes the intellect and experience of an adult, was told to me some while ago. It is worthy of a re-tell here. An Ofsted Inspector who entered a primary classroom sat himself down at one of the children’s worktables. The child nearest to him asked him if he was an Ofsted Inspector to which he replied that he was. The boy then asked him if he intended to do some writing to which he again replied that he was. The boy then asked a third question of the Inspector “will you be writing in joined-up handwriting?” The Inspector, in equally calm and measured tones as his first two responses, replied “Yes, I will be” In a more forceful and precise tone the boy quickly replied “well you’re on the wrong table then”!
